Good things come to those who wait.

I was really tempted to get an iPhone simply because everyone had one, well almost everyone. But, I decided to wait. My wife was also planning to buy a new phone because her old one was already getting old and tired. I suggested to her to get an iPhone because that’s what every one is using. She didn’t like the idea of having a phone everyone else have (who does?), so I suggested to her the phone that I was planning to buy if I had the money: The Motorola Milestone (or Motorola DROID in the US). She liked how it looked (and fortunately it was on an exclusive promo with Starhub).

We went to the Starhub shop in Ang Mo Kio to check it and luckily there was a live unit there that you can play with. All I can say is, it was lust at first touch. We were awed by how responsive it was like the iPhone, how good the screen is, and how nice the slideout keyboard was. By the way did I say it was affordable? Only 198sgd with a 38sgd/mo subscription that includes a 12gb data plan just like the iPhone!
So I suggested that she gets it, but to my surprise she bought me one too. The condition was I have to sell my trusty Nokia E71, which I gladly agreed to (sorry E71, the call of a useful touch with a big slideout keyboard was too strong).

So far everthing is going great! Though it’s not a perfect phone (short battery life compared to my E71), it’s just right for my hands and needs.
I’ll be doing a running review of this smartphone so that you get an idea of how it really handles in the real world.

For those wanting and waiting for a very useful phone that isn’t an iPhone, the Motorola Milestone is here. The waiting is over.
